Bempton Cliffs, Yorkshire Coast.

A day trip to a Yorkshire Coast Nature Reserve.

On a recent day out. We went to the fantastic RSPB Bempton Cliffs on the East Yorkshire coast. A place where we can fill our boots with Nature, Wildlife and Landscape Photography. We were there early on a Fantastic Spring morning, Mentioned, In previous blogs, The early bird catches the worm. We have been to RSPB Bempton cliffs many times before. On each occasion, The weather has been changeable, Each time we have visited. It has always been very windy. So we were pleasantly surprised, To find a wonderfully calm sunny day on the cliff tops.

About RSPB Bempton Cliffs.

Bempton Cliffs is an RSPB run Nature reserve on the East coast of Yorkshire. The fantastic Chalk Cliffs Are over 100 meters from the sea in places. And are some of the highest in England. Bempton Cliffs are best known for its breeding sea bird colony with numbers reaching more than 250,000 a year. Including the Northern Gannet, Atlantic Puffin, Razorbill, Common Guillemot, Black-legged Kittiwake And Fulmar nest there among others. There are five cliff top viewing points over the six miles of cliff tops on the Nature Reserve.

On the Reserve.

When entering Bempton Cliff Nature Reserve. You can become aware that you are going to see an awful lot more than just Seabirds. There are Meadow Grassland either side of the paths, On the way to the Clifftop which is full of wildlife of one variety or another. Within minutes of arriving, We saw a Barn Owl in the distance unfortunately too far away to photograph. Bempton Cliffs do get a lot of Migratory Species passing through different Parts of the year. When on the Clifftop if wearing a hat please beware it may end up over 100 meters below.

The views out to sea are amazing on a good day, Also Looking for Puffins is something quite special. Wherever you look there is something to see and hear. If you look up you see Gannets Kittiwakes Fulmars etc and Maybe special guest birds of prey on a good day. When looking out to Sea, Feeding birds riding the waves also you may see grey seals if you are lucky. As well as bird in the crevices on the cliffs resting. And many other things to look at on the Reserve.

It really is well worth A day trip to RSPB Bempton Cliffs on the Yorkshire coast and see how lucky you are.
