May Nature Photography Report

Welcome to our May Nature Photography report. Based on Nature, Wildlife in the Countryside of North Yorkshire and the Surrounding area.

This month, We thought we would have an early start and hit the Yorkshire coast. RSPB Bempton Cliffs to be exact. We like our early starts at J P Watson Photography. We arrived at RSPB Bempton Cliffs at 0330. So that we could be there for Sunrise. Nothing quite like a sunrise on the coast, But it was exceptionally cold, Even before we got to the Clifftops. It was an incredibly cold morning for May.

But the view was excellent with a clear blue sky and the glow of the sunrise starting to show. We had our cameras at the ready not only for the sunrise but also. Any early morning Seabirds flying by while we waited. Did not have long to wait as you can see from the picture above. The Sun rises over a serene sea. Also, a few Gannets perched on the cliffs also show the golden light on their bodies.

Any Puffin Sightings?

After sunrise. We went for a wander around the nature reserve. In the hope of getting pictures of puffins that seem to have eluded us for some years now. We have not had any success certainly early morning but ever the optimist could this be the first time? We were taking loads of pictures of Gannets, Herring Gull, Kittiwakes, Razorbills and guillemots. But No Puffins. We went all along the Cliff tops in the Hope of seeing puffins but to no avail. By this time it was getting to mid-late Morning we Needed a coffee and a bit of cake as we missed breakfast. and left RSPB Bempton Cliffs just before Lunchtime as it had already been a long day.

One day we will take pictures of Puffins but not today.
