Nature Photography Day

Nature Photography Day

A winters day taking photographs on a local North Yorkshire Nature reserve in the winter sunshine in early February. Nothing quite like it. When the sun is shining and it makes you feel good as you are walking around with your Camera. Because it is the first time for ages on a Nature photography day. It felt so good packing the car up with all the camera kit and Walking boots and coat etc. Really could not wait to get out there again into the Fantastic English fresh air.

On arrival at our local Nature reserve. We got kitted up and off we go, first of all, see the winter early spring flowers Daffodils and snowdrops. Then you hear the birds singing that are in trees above and firstly a Robin singing its heart out. After a reasonable walk, we get to the first hide. This is when the adrenalin starts to flow! Because within minutes we are seeing and photographing close up Siskin for the first time. Closely followed by Blue tits, Great Tits, Great Spotted Woodpeckers and many more. Too many birds to mention and not enough Canon Cameras at hand today. The winter light is fantastic for what we are trying to achieve today (Getting some practice in and sharpening Mind for later in the year).

What next!

After a couple of hours at the hide, we decide to go for a wander. The longer you sit the colder it gets certainly in Winter.  Always looking and listening, you never know what you are going to see and hear in the countryside. Geese flying overhead. Blackbirds singing in the trees above, Rabbits running away from us as we walk through Nature reserve. As we go through a wooded area, the sun is shining through the Silver birches and making shadows. Very photographic really enjoying this because it is a Great day out with the camera. In the late afternoon sunshine, we are visiting all the hides as we go by them. In the distance, you can hear a Tawney owl, unfortunately, could not see it to take photos of (Shame never seen one, really would like to see one, Maybe next time?)

As the Light is starting to fade after a long day it is time for home, to see what pictures we have taken. Some of the pictures we took are above others are on the Website and check out our Facebook Page and Twitter feed is always worth a look!!

Hope you have enjoyed reading about our first Nature Photography Day of the year.
