August Nature Photography Report

Welcome to our August Nature Photography report. Based on Nature, Wildlife in the Countryside of North Yorkshire and the Surrounding area.

We decided to Visit the Woodland Stream Hide in County Durham for another time the third of the year. The weather forecast was good with some bright sunshine throughout the day. On arrival at the hide, we noticed that the perches had changed a lot throughout the summer. We were told that the Kingfisher Pair had three broods of young this year that they had just recently fledged that the Male Kingfisher was feeding unto five Young Kingfishers and that it could well be a very busy day. This was music to our ears as last year the same day we were at the hide for the first time and we were busy that time.

Then The Kingfishers Arrived

Shortly after Nigel left, the male kingfisher arrived for his first fish of the day you could see some of the young kingfishers perched at the side of the stream. It was the first of many on the first hour with good views of the Male and four Juvenile Kingfishers. As well as the Kingfisher there were the usual Suspects also visiting Great Spotted Woodpeckers, Bullfinches, Robins, Wrens and many others. But the Kingfishers were catching our eye big time. The Juveniles were coming within feet of us in the hide Amazing. good job we had changed our Canon cameras to Canon mirrorless with silent shutters as the old DSLR cameras would have scared them away. As you can see from the pictures above very close and personal. The Light was quite incredible and was showing the Kingfishers in all their glory.
